Moira Korus
Moira Korus is a living kidney donor who worked for over 35 years in nephrology and transplant coordination. Her passion for nursing began at age 12 after a serious hand injury led her to admire the care and compassion of the nurses who treated her.
Throughout her career, Moira worked closely with families facing difficult diagnoses, particularly in the field of kidney transplantation. She became a strong advocate for patient education and spearheaded initiatives to provide resources for teenagers with kidney disease.
Following her retirement, she chose to donate her kidney as a non-directed donor, understanding the critical role this type of donation plays in helping difficult-to-match patients receive lifesaving transplants.
Moira's journey, both personal and professional, exemplifies a life committed to service, empathy and the power of giving—through her decades as a dedicated transplant nurse and her decision to become a kidney donor.
