Quality policy
What we do matters
As the nationwide system of life-essentials for transfusion and transplantation, we’re committed to delivering products and services efficiently, to the most rigorous standards, on time, every time.
Our ultimate priority is the health of the patient and each of us bears the full weight of this responsibility.
For this reason, our quality policy is more than a statement of intent. It’s a vital, action-oriented set of principles for staff and volunteers at all levels.
Safeguard
Safety above all else | Safety is paramount. There can be no compromise, no exceptions. That’s why we must be rigorous, focused, and dependable – and it starts with each of us. Respect the rules by following the rules. Lives depend on it. |
If you doubt it, shout it | We operate a complex system and we function most effectively when we’re all on our guard. If you see a problem, never assume someone will fix it. It’s your job to voice your concern. It’s everybody’s job to listen. |
Engage
Each patient is your patient | Our day-to-day tasks can seem unrelated to a distant patient. Yet this is who we must keep in mind with all we do. Imagine it’s someone you know, someone you love, looking to recover. Focus on that priority. |
To share is to care | Teamwork is important in any enterprise but in our field, it’s vital. It’s up to you to know the people who share your task, your workspace. Understand their perspective. Work together. Make it easy for you to help each other. |
Improve
Good enough is not enough | Canadians hold us to the highest possible standards and they deserve no less. That’s why we must always be learning, discovering, finding better ways to work, both individually and as an organization. |
The only constant is change | In our world, nothing stays the same. The environment is constantly evolving and we must continually adapt in order to stay relevant. By keeping an open mind and embracing change, we can serve Canadians even better. |
