Yoga Poses to Improve your Posture
Wellness Wednesday: Yoga Poses to Improve your Posture
While some of us who are currently working from home may be fortunate enough to have a great home office or dedicated workspace, let’s be honest – most of our set-ups right now are probably less than ergonomic.
(Raise your hand if you’re spending at least some time hunched over your laptop from your couch, kitchen table, or bed – often, while simultaneously trying to wrangle your children and/or pets).
All these less-than-optimal sitting positions are likely to have a minimal impact when we’re only doing the occasional work-from-home day – however, weeks of bad posture could start to take a toll.
That’s why this week’s wellness champion is offering up some key yoga poses to help improve your posture while you work from home (frontline workers, stay tuned for a video in the coming weeks geared towards those who are on their feet all day).
Sherry Beaudry, Administrator – Accounts Payable, Shared Services, is a registered yoga teacher and a certified group fitness instructor who has been broadcasting weekly evening classes live from her home so that her students can keep up with their regular yoga practice during COVID-19.
In this week’s Wellness Wednesday video, Sherry demonstrates some simple and helpful stretches you can do to improve your posture and get up and out of your chairs.
Don’t forget – an important part of wellness is connectivity and community.
During this difficult time, we encourage you to go on Yammer and connect with your team mates and other staff across the organization, using the hashtag #WellnessWednesday.
Share your own videos, photos or tips about what you’re doing to stay well while working from home – or bravely working on the frontlines – and help inspire and motivate others.
You can also email communications@blood.ca with your ideas for future Wellness Wednesday videos.
