Blood, sweat and cheers
Members of Canadian Blood Services’ running team included community members, blood recipients, staff from Bayer Inc, the primary Canadian Blood Services’ sponsor, as well as Canadian Blood Services’ staff, including our CEO.
A team of over 100 Canadian Blood Services supporters laced up their shoes at the 15th annual Mississauga Race weekend to fundraise for Canadian Blood Services through the Scotiabank Charity Challenge.
Keith Ardiel, an employee of Canadian Blood Services’ primary event sponsor, Bayer Inc., ran alongside his twelve-year-old daughter Kalia to complete the five-kilometre race.
“I saw the event on my company’s intranet site and decided to go for a run,” explained Keith, who spent the weeks leading up to the event fundraising with his daughter and colleagues while spreading the message about the importance of Canadian Blood Services’ work.
Together, teams including Canadian Blood Services CEO, Dr. Graham Sher, local businesses and community members raised over $30,000 to help fund programs that make a difference for Canadians when they need it most. These programs help recruit the next generation of blood, stem cell and organ donors and fuel innovative research in transfusion and transplantation medicine.
