Stem Cell Transplantation Multimedia Toolkit

Stem Cell Club is an educational initiative which educates healthcare professional students about stem cell transplantation and supports them to develop professional skills. Stem Cell Club chapters operate at 22 university campuses across Canada, at which club members organize stem cell drives to recruit students as potential donors. To date, the initiative has trained hundreds of medical and nursing students across Canada to advocate for patients in need of transplant; secure informed consent from potential donors; and collaborate on interprofessional teams and in leadership roles. In 2017, Stem Cell Club launched a multimedia library (available at www.stemcellclub.ca), on which it published sharable posters and banners to educate healthcare professional students about stem cell donation and support recruitment of the most-needed donors. With support of this grant, we will expand Stem Cell Club’s multimedia library to include three novel online tools to support educating healthcare professional students about stem cell donation: 1) infographics; 2) a whiteboard video and 3) a repository of stories from patients, donors, recruiters, and transplant physicians and staff. This social media toolkit will support teams across Canada to educate healthcare professional students about stem cell transplantation and to recruit them and others as potential donors.
