Dr. Young’s research interests include massive transfusion, adverse reactions to blood transfusion, and IgA deficient blood components and their indications. She has been involved with programs to improve the efficiency of the plasmapheresis program and manage the national adverse reactions data pertaining to blood components.
Brief Biography
Dr. Young has worked in Transfusion Medicine for the past 28 years at Canadian Blood Services and the Canadian Red Cross. She is the current chair of the TRALI Medical Review Group and the medical lead for HLA matched platelet program optimization at Canadian Blood Services.
She and her husband are busy with family – including four adult children and two Yorkies. They also enjoy motorbiking in Canada and the U.S. on their Harleys.
