Dr. Bigham began his career as an engineering officer with the Canadian Forces and he completed a mechanical engineering degree in 1974. He went on to serve as a medical officer with the Canadian Forces, receiving his medical degree in 1982 from Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario. He later completed a Master of Health Sciences and a residency in Public Health and Preventive Medicine at the University of British Columbia.
After finishing his residency, Dr. Bigham was a communicable disease consultant for the Vancouver Health Department for several years before joining the BC Centre for Disease Control as a physician-epidemiologist. Dr. Bigham is currently serving as a medical officer with Canadian Blood Services at the Vancouver Blood Centre. He is also a medical health officer at the Fraser Health Authority.
