I held my 17th birthday at Canadian Blood Services. I made my first donation with six of my friends, three of whom are still regular donors.
I come from a family of blood donors. Both my mother and grandfather made more than 70 donations before retiring.
I'm now 37 years old, and have made 83 donations to date.
My son is only four, but in thirteen years, I'll encourage him to have his birthday at Canadian Blood Services, and carry on the family tradition.
