This summer, following a routine day surgery, I called an ambulance due to extreme pain. Several hours after arriving at hospital my blood pressure was plummeting, it was discovered I was bleeding internally and rushed to surgery. I wasn't sure I would wake up. My surgeon told me when I woke up, it was "tenuous" as I'd lost 2 litres of blood and I was losing blood "faster than they could replace it".
I'm very thankful to the blood donors, whose generous donations truly are the gift of life for people like me and countless others. I plan on donating myself once I am fully recovered.
