As a healthcare provider myself, I have seen the need for a blood transfusion. I am from the Philippines, where blood donation is scarce. Once, I was working in an operating room there, and the patient on the table needed blood ASAP. Luckily, the patient was the same blood type as I am. Right then and there I got tested and donated. It saved her life.
From then on, I made a commitment to donate blood. I donated many times in the Philippines and I recently made my second blood donation in Canada. I want to encourage my friends and family to donate as well by posting my experience. I am proud that I can save lives and be a part of Canada’s Lifeline!
