How to read the dashboard
The dashboard above displays two numbers: targeted weeks on hand and the current percentage of target.
Targeted weeks on hand
Weeks on hand is the number of weeks our current inventory is projected to last based on the usual demand for these products. This number represents a snapshot of our inventory at a certain point in time.
*It is important to note that we are constantly replenishing our inventory, so having 10 weeks on hand does not mean our supply will run out in 10 weeks.
Targeted weeks on hand is the number of weeks on hand we aim to have readily available in Canada. This includes inventory held by Canadian Blood Services and by the vendor’s Canadian warehouse sites. We calculate this number per product based on the rate of utilization and the potential risk to supply.
Percentage of target
The percentage (%) of target is our current weeks on hand compared to our targeted weeks on hand. For example, if we aim to have 10 weeks on hand for a certain product, and we currently have five weeks on hand, then we are at 50 per cent of target.
*Please note you may see the percentage of target shown as ≥100% of target in the above dashboard. This means our current inventory is above target, or greater than 100 per cent.
