Nancy Dillabough

Volunteer

Representing Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba and The Northwest Territories

Nancy is a recipient as well as a volunteer. As a child, she suffered a traumatic injury and the gift of blood saved her life. Thirty years later, she was diagnosed with a neurological condition and had to stop performing many of the daily tasks that most people take for granted, like working and driving. Although some things were beyond her control, Nancy decided to focus on what she could control. She chose to cultivate a positive attitude, and became committed to helping fellow Canadians by volunteering her time.

In 2011 she started volunteering at Canadian Blood Services, where she continues to help with office work and attending recruitment events. Reliable, friendly and passionate, Nancy shares her personal story as a way to encourage others to give blood, and never hesitates to thank any donor who gives the gift of life, for one of them may have saved hers.
