Designed for Excellence - Calgary Operations facility book

Designed for Excellence is a book that captures the journey of building our new state-of-the-art operations facility in Calgary. This was a years-long journey made possible through the collective efforts of our funders, the Provinces and Territories Blood Liaison Committee, and our employees. Our previous Calgary facility was inherited from the Red Cross and employees had to manage many tight spaces and obstacles, as this facility was not suitable for our operations.

In November 2020, the new Calgary Operations Facility opened its doors and employees were able to work in a space that empowered them to work in the ways that suit them best. The facility represents Canadian Blood Services’ pursuit for excellence. The design means Calgary now has a facility suitable for testing, producing and delivering products that save the lives of patients in Canada.
