Research or Clinical Interests
Dr. Webert’s research interests include bleeding problems in stem cell transplant patients and optimizing the use of blood products. She was the co-principal investigator of a pilot clinical trial to investigate the effect of hemoglobin level on the frequency of bleeding in patients with acute leukemia and patients undergoing stem cell transplantation. She has also developed a measurement tool to accurately document the severity of bleeding episodes. She is a recipient of several operating grants from Canadian Blood Services and a McMaster Department of Medicine Internal Career Award.
Dr. Webert's clinical focus is transfusion medicine, with a focus on benign hematology and hemostasis. She is also involved in education, teaching medical residents within the Hematology, Internal Medicine, Pathology and Transfusion Medicine residency programs.
After completing her MD at the University of Western Ontario, Dr. Webert specialized in hematology and became an associate professor at McMaster University in Hamilton. To further her research goals, Dr. Webert completed a Masters in Health Research Methodology at McMaster. She has been working with Canadian Blood Services since 2001 and is also an investigator with the McMaster Centre for Transfusion Research.
