Canadian Blood Services hosts community-based blood typing events across the country in every province except Quebec. It’s a way of helping raise awareness and recruit new blood donors, ensuring there is always enough blood for patients who need it.
How is my blood type determined?
We prick your finger and take a few drops of blood, mixing them with something called antisera to determine your blood type. We’ll do this at a typing event.
How much does it cost to determine my blood type - and how long does it take?
It's free — and takes about two minutes.
How old do you have to be to find out your blood type?
You need to be at least 17 to participate in a typing event.
