The Canadian Blood Services Research Ethics Board evaluates research applications and acts as a resource to support Canadian Blood Services in maintaining ethical integrity in its research activities. The REB is currently seeking a new Volunteer Ethics Member to contribute to this multidisciplinary board.

The experiences of family members of deceased organ donors and suggestions to improve the organ donation process: a qualitative study was published August 8, 2022 in the Canadian Medical Association Journal. The SHARE study is a qualitative investigation of the experiences and perspectives of family surrogates of ICU patients who underwent organ donation decisions. Research answers questions about infusion pumps’ effect on red blood cells

Recent research investigating the impact that different infusion pump types have on red blood cell quality can help inform the use of these pumps for red blood cell transfusions and create a framework for their evaluation. A new Canadian Blood Services Research Unit summarizes this work undertaken by Canadian Blood Services researchers.
