Ministers of Health
Participating ministers:
- Are responsible for the overall expenditure of public funds by Canadian Blood Services in delivering the blood program and for selecting a Board of Directors.
- Retain responsibility for the effectiveness of the blood supply system.
- Approve Canadian Blood Services funding requirements.
- Are responsible for recommendations to the Minister of Health Canada regarding any proposed changes to Canadian Blood Services legislation.
- Do not have the power to direct operational decisions of the Board of Directors or Canadian Blood Services staff.
